John Loughlin leads David Cicilline
According to CQPolitics, the Congressional race between John Loughlin and David Cicilline may be too close to call. A recent poll found that Cicilline and Loughlin are tied at 41%. When just the most likely voters are considered, Loughlin took the lead 45% to 41%.
It's only one poll, and it has a relatively small sample size, but it is encouraging. Let's not forget that David Cicilline received just 39% in the Democratic primary. That's not exactly an overwhelming sign of support. Plus, John Loughlin's campaign seemed stagnant up until two weeks ago. Now that he has started advertising and debating, it looks like support is going his way.
This change of fortune raises an interesting question: Will the National GOP start spending money on the District 1 race? If John Loughlin is within striking distance, or better yet ahead, it seems like a strong possibility.
